Bhediya, directed by Amar Kaushik, is the third installment of Dinesh Vijan’s horror universe; of horror comedies with a message. “Bhediya,” which is about a man who turns into a werewolf on a full moon night and imbues in him the importance of the forest in which he lives when he is transformed. A supernatural tale that emphasizes the fact that forests need to be preserved and the animals living in them are equally important as the human beings that supposedly protect the forests. Released on the big screen on November 25, 2002, this Amar Kaushik film stars Varun Dhawan, Abhishek Banerjee, Dipak Dobriyal, and Kriti Sanon.
Thankfully, the film does address JD and Bhaskar’s behaviour, making a commentary on the racism residents of North-East India face (with a specific reference to how they were affected by the rampant xenophobia across the world during the COVID-19 pandemic).
The qualify of VFX is excellent. Varun Dhawan had performed well and the transformation part was very good. Deepak Dobriyal’s character made the film interesting. Abhishek Banerjee’s comic timing is the best. He handled the comedy segment fantastically. Kriti Sanon had less role but vital and she was outstanding. The film is linked with a great message. The horror element is missing. The scenes of werewolf were superb. The film had captivating climax. Overally the movie is good but can be better with a strong storyline. I would rate this movie 3 out of 5 stars.
